Lady Tams gain Shakey’s VL Final 4
Far Eastern University clinched the third semifinal berth while Adamson foiled Davao’s first attempt to complete the Final Four cast in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference yesterday at Filoil Flying V Arena.
New reinforcements Rachel Anne Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga delivered again as the Lady Tamaraws ousted Arellano, 25-16, 25-15, 24-26, 25-16, in their knockout quarterfinal battle in Group 2.
Daquis, who accounted for half of the Lady Tamaraws’ 10 service aces, finished with a game-high 21 points, while Gonzaga led the team’s attacks for a 20-point outing.
Article continues after this advertisementDavao, though, failed to join National University, University of Santo Tomas and FEU in the top four as the Lady Falcons blasted the Agilas, 25-21, 25-23, 25-15, in Group 1.
Shiela Pineda topscored with 14 built on 11 kills and three service aces and Thai reinforcement Pacharee Sangmuang had 13 points to lead the Lady Falcons’ dominant performance.
The Lady Falcons, who improved to 1-1, not only kept their semifinal hopes alive but also idle Ateneo’s bid. A playoff for the last semifinal spot will ensue if Adamson loses to UST tomorrow, resulting to a three-way tie among Ateneo, Davao and Adamson.
