MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University coach Nash Racela thinks the Tamaraws still play far from ideal even as they vie for four in a row in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup Wednesday.
The Tamaraws, who have found a new leader in Mike Tolomia, shoots for the solo lead against another unbeaten squad in Lyceum in Group B action at 12:30 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
“We still have a lot to work on,” said Racela. “Half of our team is new and we’re only getting to know them now.”
Just like the Tamaraws, Jose Rizal U hopes to keep on improving as it goes for a third straight victory versus Cebu’s Southwestern U at 2:15 p.m.
A JRU victory will mean a share of the lead in Group A with idle leader Perpetual Help.
“I told them not to be happy with our previous wins,” said JRU coach Vergel Meneses.
“Every game, we have to improve as a team and as an individual.”
In Group C, San Sebastian targets a second victory against winless St. Benilde at 4 p.m.
The Tamaraws are coming off an 85-75 win while the Pirates are off to a 2-0 start after wins over Mapua (92-83) and newcomer St. Clare (85-82).
