Philippines clinches SEABA U18 gold

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines clinched the 2014 SEABA Under-18 Championship Gold Wednesday night with a 124-63 demolition of Singapore, capping a three-game romp in the tournament held in Sabah, Malaysia.

The crown gave the Philippines a slot in the Fiba Asia Under-18 championships scheduled from August 19 to 28 this year in Doha, Qatar.

Paul Desidero finished with 17 points and four rebounds, Joshua Caracut had 16, Third Ravena did damage with 14 points and 12 rebounds while three more others wound up double digits.

There wasn’t a time when the young Filipinos didn’t dominate as they destroyed Indonesia, 98-35, last Monday, then Malaysia, 93-76, last Tuesday.

Former Ateneo Blue Eaglets coach Jamike Jarin mentored the youth team composed of the top players from mostly UAAP and NCAA.
