MANILA, Philippines — Professionals and amateurs without direct invites to the ICTSI Philippine Open have one last chance to make the tournament proper with the NGAP holding an 18-hole qualifying event on Monday.
Four slots will be up for grabs in the event set at the composite Mount Malarayat layout in Lipa City.
The Open proper, which will be presented by the MVP Sports Foundation and PLDT, tees off Thursday at Wack Wack East and carries a total cash pot of $300,000.
Pros with valid Tour IDs and amateurs with handicap indices of 3 are allowed to participate. Participants can register at Malarayat early Monday morning.
The Open, which wasn’t held last year because of several factors, has already drawn a star-studded international field with former champions Angelo Que and Frankie Miñoza tipped to carry the fight for the Philippines.
Mardan Mamat of Singapore, who blew everyone away in the final round in 2012, is in effect the defending champion.
A minimal fee of P2,500 for local players and P3,000 for the foreigners will be charged. Mike Carr will be tournament director.
