MANILA, Philippines — Antonio Pardo hit a buzzer-beating floater as Southwestern University stunned Perpetual, 79-77, for its second straight win in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup Friday.
With the clock winding down, Mac Tallo found Pardo for the game winner as the Cobras completed an inspiring comeback from five points down in the final minute.
“It was a lucky shot. But I have to give credit to Pardo because he had the composure to take that shot,” said SWU coach Yayoy Alcoseba.
The Altas were up, 77-72, in the final 1:20 before the Cobras knotted the count.
Sanjo blocked Juneric Baloria and Harold Arboleda’s attempts in the next sequence, setting up the stage for Pardo’s heroics with 14 seconds remaining.
The Cebu-based dribblers (2-0) snapped the Altas’ three-game win streak.
