MANILA, Philipines — Adamson gallantly climbed from a deep hole to repulse Far Eastern U, 19-25, 22-25, 26-24, 25-15, 15-12, and seize the opener of their best-of-three semifinal showdown in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
From two sets down, the Lady Falcons snared the next two frames to force a deciding set where they pounced mightily on the Lady Tamaraws with a steady barrage of down-the-line kills, blocks and superior teamwork.
Thai import Pacharee Sangmuang and Sheila Marie Pineda went on the attack mode in the final three sets as they combined for 43 hits, including 40 on kills to frustrate the Lady Tamaraws and move a victory away from a championship appearance.
Sangmuang, skipper of the Thai national team, finished off FEU with a powerful wallop to the backcourt.
National University withstood a fiery comeback by University of Santo Tomas in the second game, hacking out a 25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22 win that moved the Lady Bulldogs closer to a title showdown with the Lady Falcons.
Reigning MVP Dindin Santiago scored 19 points on top of three blocks and two service aces while her sister Jaja and Myla Pablo added 14 each for the defending champions, who prevented another five-setter with superb net defense.
