Tan, Enriquez lead rash of FDR racing upsets

MANILA, Philippines — Upsets marked the kickoff of the 2014 FDR Philippine Scooter Racing Championship Series and 2014 FDR Underbone King Championship Series recently with Josh Reuben Tan and Johnlery Enriquez besting the reigning champions at Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.

Tan captured the premier 180cc Automatic Scooter crown of the scooter series while Enriquez clinched the 150cc plum of the underbone races which are both part of the 2014 Motorsports Championship Season presented by Petronas.

Tan finally broke free from James Barcial and Paul Mark Doblada in the last lap to wrap up the eight-lap race in 16 minutes and 8.932 seconds, just 0.350 of a second ahead of Barcial. Doblada finished third. Aljon Valencia bagged the 160cc Automatic Scooter title while John Edward Godoy ruled the 130cc race.

Dictating the tempo in the 150cc Open most of the way, Enriquez took the checkered flag in 15:38.707 seconds, 1.175 seconds ahead of Herbert Lopez. John Emerson Inguito came in third.
