Rodrigue Ebondo came out still energized as he notched 21 points and 19 rebounds in 31 minutes, while Joseph Sedurifa and Alfred Batino combined for 31 markers.
While the Scorpions tote a 4-0 record in the Filoil pre-season cup, they have already been eliminated in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
“The loss against Blackwater ended our D-League stint, so we could focus more on Filoil. Hopefully we could recover from this stretch,” Macaraya said.
CEU will get a respite as its next game is on May 21 against a stacked National University side.
The Wildcats, on the other hand, have not found their mark since arriving here in Manila as they reeled to their fifth setback in as many outings.
Badly outrebounded, 30-62, HTC simply struggled to level with CEU despite taking care of the leather well with just 10 miscues.
Edson Batiller led the visiting Wildcats with 15 points, while Chris Masaglang and Meyland Landicho chipped in 14 and 11, respectively.
