Kid Molave favored as first leg gets going

Former juvenile champion Kid Molave starts as the heavy favorite to rule the first leg of the 2014 Triple Crown Series set this afternoon at MetroTurf in Malvar, Batangas.

The 3-year-old colt by Into Mischief out of Unsaid battles it out with eight other entries in the kickoff race sponsored by the Philippine Racing Commission.

Owned by Manny Santos and trained by Renato Hipolito, Kid Molave will be under regular rider John Alvin Guce when he shoots for the top prize of P1.8 million in the P3 million event set over 1,600 meters.

The other entries with their jockeys: Matang Tubig, Chris Garganta; Tap Dance, Jesse Guce; Kaiserslautern, Antonio Alcasid Jr.; Winter’s Tale, Cris Tamano; Low Profile, Mark Alvarez; River Mist, Deo Fernandez; Kanlaon, Jonathan Hernandez; and Dixie Gold, Fernando Raquel Jr.

Meanwhile, Malaya (Sky Mesa-Dream Bride) bagged the 2014 Hopeful Stakes yesterday at the same track.

Jockey Jonathan Hernandez rode the horse of Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr. to victory in the 1,600-meter race.
