Lady Falcons beat Tigresses, move closer to 3rd place in V-League

MANILA, Philippines — Adamson moved closer to a third-place finish with a 25-17, 25-23, 18-25, 25-19 win over University of Santo Tomas on Sunday in the 2014 Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference.

Pacharee Sangmuang topscored with 17 points, while Shiela Pineda and Pau Soriano combined for 24 points for the Lady Falcons, who could wrap it up in game 2 on Sunday.

“We got over confident in the third set, and UST is very capable of pulling off a comeback because of their blocking, thankfully we recovered,” said head coach Sherwin Meneses.

Chlodia Cortez led the Tigresses in a losing effort with 17 points while Ria Meneses, who was later on named as best blocker, added 11 points including three blocks.

If UST wins game 2 to forge a decider yet the finals series between Far Eastern University and National U concludes on Sunday, the bronze medal will be decided via quotient.

The second game on Sunday is scheduled at 12:45 p.m.
