South African champion Simpiwe Vetyeka promised to surprise Filipino challenger Nonito Donaire Jr., when he stakes his WBA super featherweight title on May 31 in Macau.
Hardly known except for his stoppage of erstwhile unbeaten Chris John of Indonesia, Vetyeka is expected to be at his peak physically and mentally during the fight after logging 200 rounds in sparring and a six-week fitness training, according to website bdlive.co.za.
Vetyeka (26-2-0 with 16 knockouts) hasn’t fought outside his native country except for the John fight last December in Australia.
