Philippine National Police (PNP) Responders showed no ill-effects from a long layoff as they dealt defending champion Judiciary Magis an 87-77 beating last Sunday in the UNTV Cup Season 2 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Olan Omiping topscored with 23 points for the Responders who got back at the Magis who swept them in their Finals series last season.
This was the first game in three weeks for PNP which rose to 8-0. Judiciary lost for only the second time in eight games. Both squads have sealed spots in the next round.
Earlier, MMDA Blackwolves, starring Jeff Sanders (18 points, seven rebounds and four steals), overwhelmed House of Representatives Solon, 109-77, to improve to 5-3.
