MANILA, Philippines — St. Clare College concluded its the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup campaign on a high note with an 85-81 victory over Mapua on Wednesday.
Guard Marte Gil and Jason Ibay had 17 points apiece in the Saints’ second victory in the tournament, while getting solid numbers from Raymond Jamito and Robin Dulalia.
Dulalia carried St. Clare in the payoff period by scoring all of his 11 points including a split from the stripe with 4.3 seconds left that ended the Cardinals’ hopes.
“Our players are used to rough brand of play so we keep on pushing. I have big trust in the players, I know they’ll be able to execute well on defense which is our main goal,” said St. Clare coach Genino Manansala.
St. Clare led by as many as 17 points, 74-57, with 8:53 to play on back-to-back Dulalia treys before Mapua roared back with a 24-10 run to come within three.
The win gave St. Clare the fifth spot in Group B, while Mapua fell behind at sixth.
Andrew Estrella finished with 29 points for Mapua, while Josan Nimes added 15 markers. Joseph Eriobu and Exequil Biteng combined for 25.
