MANILA, Philippines — The PLDT Home TVolution spoiled the debut of two-time champion Generika-Army in the 2014 Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference with a hard-earned 28-26, 16-25, 29-27, 13-25, 15-12 victory Wednesday at Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay.
Skipper Suzanne Roces paced the Power Attackers’ charge with 17 points while Angela Benting added 13 to help PLDT improve its slate to 2-1.
In the second game, Dindin Santiago erupted for 31 points as Petron outlasted Cagayan Valley, 22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-21, to join idle AirAsia on top at 2-0.
Santiago, the top rookie pick who also had four service aces and three blocks, unleashed a league-high 37 points just last week in their win over PLDT.
Generika-Army star Rachel Daquis knotted the game at 12-all in the deciding set, but PLDT nailed the last three points behind Louann Latigay and Benting.
“I thought we were going to have a replay of our first game [but] luckily this time, we were fast enough to win the last set,” said PLDT Coach Roger Gorayeb.
Jovelyn Gonzaga paced the Lady Troopers with 17 kills and three blocks while Daquis added 19.
