Andy Jao named UAAP season 77 commissioner
MANILA, Philippines—Long-time basketball analyst Andy Jao has been named commissioner of the incoming UAAP season 77 basketball tournament.
Jao’s appointment on Friday ends the summer-long search of host University of the East for this season’s basketball chief, a job which is renewed yearly.
Among those who were considered for the post were Ginebra legend Robert Jaworski and former PBA Commissioner Noli Eala, among others.

Jao, who also held the position in 2011, will succeed season 76 commissioner Chito Loyzaga.
UAAP plunges back into action on July 12 with a pair of seniors’ basketball matches.
