Baby Tamaraws turn back Red Cubs for Filoil hoops title
MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University turned back San Beda, 80-72, to claim the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup juniors’ basketball crown Sunday.
Marvin Lee sizzled from downtown en route to a 25-point performance for the Baby Tamaraws, who leaned on a solid second half production.
Despite getting badly outrebounded, 44-53, FEU made up for it with eight triples, three coming from Lee, to subdue the Red Cubs.
Brandey Bienes and Wendelino Comboy had 19 and 13 points, respectively, for the Baby Tamaraws, who will see action in the second semester of the upcoming UAAP season.
Nikko Abatayo led San Beda with a monster performance with 18 points and 18 rebounds while three others had double digit points.
