MANILA, Philippines— Adamson turned the tide in the fourth quarter to stun San Beda, 80-71,  for the juniors crown in the 20th Fr. Martin Cup  basketball tournament on Thursday at the Trinity University Gym.

The Baby Falcons, who trailed from the get go, leaned on a 11-2 run to overhaul a five-point deficit and turn it to a 68-64 lead over the Red Cubs with 7:07 left to play.

San Beda pulled to within 69-70 with over three minutes to play, but that was the closest the Red Cubs would get as Adamson finished them off with a 8-0 blast.

JD Tungcab led Adamson with 20 points while Miguel Sasuman, who waxed hot from downtown, and Gerard Fernandez, combined for 30 points.

“This is the team that will be in the UAAP, but we still have longer preparation for that,” said head coach Goldwyn Monteverde.

The juniors’ basketball tournament has been moved to the second semester starting this UAAP season.

Meanwhile, Joshua Caracut finished with 25 points for the Red Cubs, who just lost steam in the payoff period despite a solid start.

San Beda, the reigning juniors’ NCAA champion, lost to Far Eastern University in the finals of the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premiere Cup earlier this month.
