PSL: Air Asia, PLDT square off
MANILA, Philippines—Air Asia and PLDT Home TVolution will seek solo third when they collide Sunday in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference women’s volleyball tournament at Cuneta Astrodome.
Tied at 2-2 along with idle Generika-Army, Air Asia and PLDT tangle at 3 p.m. with the Flying Spikers hoping to break an alarming two-game losing streak.
Cagayan Valley faces winless Cignal HD at 5 p.m. in the other women’s game while Cignal and Instituto Estetico Manila square off in the men’s division at 7 p.m.
Article continues after this advertisementAfter winning its first two games, Air Asia suffered successive defeats which coach Ramil de Jesus blamed on lack of time for the players to jell as well as the tough level of competitions in the semi-pro league.
“You see the problems in a team when it faces tougher opponents,” said De Jesus who steers a team made up mostly of former La Salle players.
But the good thing, he added, is that they have already identified the glitches in their system and vowed to “come back strong in our next game.” Marc Anthony Reyes
