Unforgiving Global blanks Kaya

MANILA, Philippines — Newly crowned United Football League titlist Global kept its relentless form Tuesday night by dumping Kaya FC, 3-0, Thursday night at Emperador Stadium.

Sustaining its blistering attack, Global overcame the side that dealt it one of its two losses in an otherwise dominant season. Mark Hartmann increased his total to 25 goals for the season with a stinging volley after Kaya failed to clear a corner kick in the 17th minute.

Jason de Jong added a second goal with a composed finish after another defensive lapse from Kaya early in the second half before substitute Napo Bustillo’s long range rocket slipped past Nick O Donnel on the Kaya goal.

Global’s victory however was tempered by the news of Jeffrey Christiaens departure from the club.

The Fil-Belgian leftback has signed with Bacolod side and second division champion Ceres FC. With 56 points from 23 matches, Global, which sealed the title last week, extended its lead at the top to 13 points.

Earlier, Matthew Hartmann scored two goals and Graham Caygill added another as the Loyola Meralco Sparks bounced back with a 5-0 victory over Pasargad FC.
