MANILA, Philippines — Jayvie Agojo and Chihiro Ikeda, former amateur hotshots still seeking a breakthrough win on the ICTSI Ladies Pro Tour, get going as heavy favorites when the Riviera Ladies Classic gets off the ground on Wednesday at the Couples layout in Silang, Cavite.
Both former Philippine Ladies champions, Agojo and Ikeda remain winless thus far after close to two seasons of the Tour, but with the likes of Cyna Rodriguez and Dottie Ardina not in the field, the road seems smooth this time.
“I just hope that my putts fall,” said Agojo, whose initial professional win came in September last year in Thailand.
Agojo, high up in the Order of Merit last season, has been a consistent Top Five finisher but has yet to produce three good scoring days to win.
From Riviera, the tour goes to John Hay in Baguio on July 1 to 3 before Mt. Malarayat in Lipa City hosts the next stage from Aug. 13 to 15.
The veteran Anya Tanpinco and Lovelyn Guioguio are the others expected to make a serious run for the crown and the P100,000 prize that goes with it. Musong R. Castillo
