NBA stars Pierce, Griffin to test Gilas PH
Paul Pierce, an NBA champion with the Boston Celtics, former Rookie of the Year Damien Lillard and the high-flying Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers will come to the country to form the core of a US squad that will play Gilas Pilipinas on July 22 and 23.
Business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan, the prime mover of the Gilas program that got the Philippines back to the World Cup stage, made the announcement over his twitter account @iamMVP.
He dubbed the event as #GilasLastHOMEStand, which will also be used to help raise funds for the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation.
Other details of the event have yet to be released though it will be played a few days after Gilas comes home from Wuhan, China where they will see action in the Fiba Asia Cup.
Demar Derozan of the Toronto Raptors, is also in the lineup. Former Portland star John Lucas will coach the team.
