PHILIPPINE featherweight champion Vinvin Rufino of the Elorde stable makes his second title defense against Christian Abila tonight in the “Boxing Kontra Droga” fight card at Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.
Rufino, rated No. 4 by the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation, is seeking a victory to boost his hopes of earning a crack at the crown held by Hisashi Amagasa of Japan.
The fight card, presented by Johnny Elorde Management International in cooperation with Rotary Club of Manila 101 headed by its new president Felly Dy, kicks off at 6 p.m.
Abila hails from Libon, Albay, and is managed by Johnny Monis.
In another major clash, World Boxing Council No. 3 contender Jonathan Taconing goes up against Thai Jaipetch Chaiyong, a former muay thai fighter.
