MANILA, Philippines — Another NBA All-Star has just been added to the lineup of the Gilas Last Home Stand.
Indiana Pacers’ Paul George is the latest player named to the roster looking to give the Fiba World Cup-bound Philippine team the kind of challenge it needs before flying to Spain.
And George made sure he’d let everyone know what to expect.
“@iamMVP, we are going to give the Gilas National Team a real workout in honor of your birthday next week! Watch out!” George posted on his Twitter Monday.
And it promises to be quite a workout for Gilas, which will face a team featuring the best NBA players today with George teaming up with the likes of Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers and newly-minted Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard of the 2014 NBA champion San Antonio Spurs to name a few.
Future Hall-of-Famer Paul Pierce, who is now with the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors’ one-two punch DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry also make up the squad coached by former pro John Lucas.
Terrence Ross, also of the Raptors, and rookie Nick Johnson will also be part of the cast set to give the fans a treat on July 22-23 which will also feature a slam dunk competition and a three-point shootout apart from the exhibition game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
