MANILA, Philippines — PLDT Home Telpad seeks solo top spot as it tangles with winless Philippine National Police even as Cagayan Valley and National University break their tie at No. 4 in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 Open Conference at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
More than gunning for their fourth straight win, the Turbo Boosters are also using the 2 p.m. match as a warmup for their highly anticipated duel with fellow unbeaten team Army on Thursday.
Looking to bounce back, the Lady Rising Suns and the Lady Bulldogs clash at 4 p.m.
Cagayan bowed to PLDT in straight sets the last time out, the same fate suffered by NU at the hands of Army.
The winner will seize solo fourth spot, just behind Air Force, which has a 3-1 mark.
Aiza Maizo and Janine Marciano will spearhead the squad of coach Nes Pamilar, who posted a 16-game sweep on their way to the crown last year.
Also expected to play key roles are Angeli Tabaquero, Pau Soriano and Wenneth Eulalio and former hitter-turned-libero Shiela Pineda.
The league’s leading spiker, Jaja Santiago, will be the focal point of the Lady Bulldogs’ attack with top setter Ivy Perez, Jane Mandapat, Desiree Dadang, Jorelle Singh and Myla Pablo providing support.
PLDT, though, isn’t looking past PNP, which boasts solid hitters like Frances Molina.
The Turbo Boosters will be strengthened by the arrival of Dindin Santiago, who will join forces with an experienced bunch led by Suzanne Roces and Angela Benting.
PLDT is also pinning its hopes on Laurence Ann Latigay, Charo Soriano, Gretchel Soltones, Ryzabelle Devanadera and Santiago’s former NU teammates Rubie de Leon and Carmina Aganon.
