MANILA, Philippines — Two of the biggest draws in the Gilas Last Home Stand charity event Blake Griffin and Paul George had to beg off due to “urgent personal matters.”

Griffin and George backed out Tuesday, the same day the first of two series will be played.

“I will come over and spend one-on-one time with you and do all the great things I’ll miss today with the charity, the kids and of course all of you who are looking forward to spending a great time with all of us from Team Fibr,” Los Angeles Clippers big man Griffin said in a video posted on YouTube.

“Keep all your tickets, because we will definitely see each other soon,” Griffin, one of the most feared dunkers in the NBA, vowed to his fans.

The two-day charity event, for the benefit of the Philippine Disaster Recovery Foundation, is part of Gilas Pilipinas’ preparations for the coming Fiba World Cup in Spain this August.

Griffin’s teammate Matt Barnes arrived Tuesday as a replacement.

Expected to lead the Fibr All-Stars is San Antonio Spurs’ Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, Portland Trail Blazers playmaker Damian Lillard and Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden.
