MANILA, Philippines–July 23 was no ordinary day for shoppers at the Under Armour store in Taguig as it was no less than the brand’s NBA player ambassador, Brandon Jennings, who personally dropped by the shop to greet fans.
Early Wednesday, Jennings was seen roaming around the store, checking out clothes and signing items for lucky fans present during his visit.
Jennings was in the country for a sports charity event. He was with fellow NBA players Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Lowry, and Terrence Ross.
On Gilas and PBA
Despite not being able to play five-on-five against the country’s National Basketball Team – Gilas Pilipinas, Jennings told INQUIRER.net that the team has the potential to reach far in the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2014.
“They were [like] very fearless against us. They didn’t act like they were scared of anything,” the Detroit Pistons Point guard shared. He was talking about the Gilas Pilipinas members they got to play with in different matches.
When asked if there is a possibility for a real game between the NBA and the PBA players, Jennings said “if everything can go through perfectly, you’ll definitely see us back again.”
Being in the Philippines
Besides his sports-related commitments, the 24-year-old seems to have also enjoyed the welcome they received from their Filipino fans.
Jennings described the Filipino crowd as “amazing.” “They treat us like we’re the greatest ever,” he added.
When asked about his stay in the country, the NBA player answered, “The camp with the kids was great. [There’s] a lot of good talent coming up for the Philippines. It’s gonna be very exciting for the country.”
Under Armour
The Detroit Pistons Point guard also had the opportunity to share his favorite items from Under Armour. According to the player, he likes everything the brand offers, from the clothes to the shoes, especially the running shoes.
Jennings also said that signing with Under Armour six years ago was one of the best decisions he ever made and that he feels honoured to be with the brand.
Message for fans
When asked what he would like to tell his fans, especially those who are aspiring to become professional basketball players like him, Jennings said, “Just work hard. [I mean] it doesn’t matter how tall you are. I’m not the tallest player in NBA, I’m only 6’1, so [you know] it’s all about heart, how much heart you have and confidence.”
“Confidence and heart is everything,” he added.
The Under Armour flagship store is located at the Bonifacio High Street of the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
