Next Generation fencing on
THE 1st Next Generation Fencing Championships unfurls this weekend at Meralco multi-purpose hall in Pasig featuring fencers aged 15 and below.
The tournament will have individual and team categories for all three weapons—foil, epee and sabre. Fencing clubs from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand will send representatives to do battle with local fencers from UAAP member schools as well as private institutions such as Xavier School and St. Jude Catholic School.
“We are excited to stage this age-group international fencing tourney and are thankful for the support of our foreign guests who are coming to participate,” said chief organizer Amatov Canlas of Fencing Masters Philippines.
The event is sanctioned by the Philippine Fencing Association, with current president and actor Richard Gomez expressing his full support behind the initiative to promote fencing.
