Pons, Simborio top Petron volley
DASMARIÑAS, Cavite—High-leaping Bernadette Pons claimed her second crown as she and Far Eastern University partner Charm Simborio clinched the third-leg title of the 2014 Ladies’ Beach Volleyball tournament.
Pons and Simborio clobbered Emilio Aguinaldo College-1’s Charmille Belleza and Clara Camille Lozada, 21-13, 21-14, in their best-of-three finals showdown at the sand courts of the De La Salle-Health Sciences Institute.
The 17-year-old Pons, who paired with Samantha Dawson to win the third-leg plum last year, and Simborio sealed a finals seat after by disposing of Emilio Aguinaldo College-2’s Yvonne Reyes and Arnie Yumul, 21-18.
Belleza and Lozada reached the finals against FEU pair by avenging their elimination-round loss to University of the East duo Francislyn Cais and Krycel Cueva, 21-16.
