UP coach Rey Madrid slapped 2-game suspension for point-shaving claims

MANILA, Philippines—UAAP commissioner Andy Jao on Tuesday suspended University of the Philippines head coach Rey Madrid for two games after his point-shaving claims in a blowout loss to University of Santo Tomas last Saturday.

Madrid blasted the officiating by accusing the referees of point shaving after the Fighting Maroons lost to the Growling Tigers, 57-73, last Saturday.

Madrid will miss UP’s next couple of games against defending champion De La Salle this Wednesday and Adamson on Saturday.

The Maroons are currently at the bottom of the standings at 0-5.
