NCAA: San Beda Red Lions battle dangerous Perpetual Help Altas

MANILA, Philippines — San Beda tries to solidify its hold of top spot as it clashes with dangerous Perpetual Help in the 90th NCAA basketball tournament at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Game time is at 2 p.m. with the Lions gunning for a seventh victory in eight games against the Altas who are running third with a 4-2 card.

Lyceum tangles with San Sebastian at 4 p.m. in a battle of struggling teams.

The Pirates have lost back-to-back games, leaving them at sixth spot with a 4-4 record.

The Stags are also on a two-game slide following losses to Mapua and San Beda last week. Those defeats sent San Sebastian to the lower half of the standings with a 3-3 slate.

But focus will be on the San Beda-Perpetual Help duel which serves as a rematch of the two squads Final Four duel last year when the Lions rolled past the Altas on their way to a fourth straight crown.

“San Beda is a tough matchup for us because of their size,” said Altas coach Aric del Rosario in Filipino. “We have to double our efforts to beat them.”
