Donaire not done with Cuban tormentor

Nonito Donaire Jr. is not closing the painful “Guillermo Rigondeaux chapter” in his career.

In a recent article at boxingnews24.com, the Filipino WBA featherweight super champion said he has not closed the door on the possibility of a rematch with the Cuban tactician who dealt him a unanimous decision defeat last year in New York City.

But the 31-year-old Donaire, who has since vaulted back with back-to-back victories over Vic Darchinyan late last year and Simpiwe Vetyeka last May, said Top Rank will decide who his next opponent will be.

And Rigondeaux (14-0 with 19 KOs) is not in the radar screen for Donaire (33-2 with 21 knockouts).

Instead, Donaire a slew of champions in the 126-lb division is lined up for him by Top Rank including WBA regular titlist Nicholas Walters and IBF champ and former stablemate Evgeny Gradovich.

Donaire has also promised to give Vetyeka a rematch after winning by a fifth-round unanimous technical decision due to accidental head butt.
