PLDT, Army try to boost semifinal hopes today

PACESETTERS PLDT Home Telpad and Army try to close in on semifinal berths when they clash with separate foes today in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 Open Conference quarterfinals at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Sporting identical 7-2 records, the Turbo Boosters and Lady Troopers are favored as they clash with Air Force and National U, respectively.

The PLDT-Air Force game is set at 2 p.m. followed by the Army-NU tussle at 4.

Resurgent Ateneo takes on defending champion Cagayan Valley in the 6 p.m. clash. With a 4-5 card, the Lady Eagles hope to ride the momentum of their victories over PLDT and Army.

Alyssa Valdez will be the center of attention as the league’s leading scorer has been on a tear in the quarterfinals. Valdez fired 29 and 26 points, respectively in wins over PLDT and Army.

Another victory by the Lady Eagles and a loss by the Raiders will still boost Ateneo’s bid for a Final Four spot.
