Shakey’s V-League Final Four gets going today

Top seeds Army and PLDT Home Telpad try to live up to their billing as they tangle with dangerous foes today at the start of  the Final Four of the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 Open Conference at Filoil Flying V Arena.

Looking to reclaim the crown it won in emphatic fashion in Season 8, Army, which earned the No. 1 seed with a 9-3 record, is favored against Air Force in their best-of-three duel beginning at 2 p.m.

Newcomer PLDT will have its hands full against defending champion Cagayan Valley in their own series at 4 p.m.

The Lady Troopers split their two meetings with the Air Spikers.  And with a star-studded team led by Rachel Ann Daquis, Army is tipped to repeat the feat it pulled off three years ago.

But the Air Spikers are no pushovers, proving their worth in the straight-set triumph over Ateneo in a sudden-death playoff last Tuesday.

PLDT will be looking to continue their mastery of Cagayan, which they swept in two meetings in the conference.
