Year’s first big stagfest fires off Monday at PCC

DEFENDING champion Edgar Santos heads the field seeing action in the Pasay Big Event 8-Stag Derby, the year’s first big stagfest, which gets going Monday at Pasay City Cockpit.

Santos scored a perfect eight points with his entry “Brgy. Anilao Lipa” last year.

The derby, hosted by cockfight “Idol” and Rep. Patrick Antonio, Eric dela Rosa and Butchoy Olano and supported by Sagupaan Complexor 3000, starts with the 3-stag eliminations. Qualifiers will battle in the 5-stag finals, which allows straight eight stags, on Aug. 29.

Testing their battlestags for the first time are members of the National Cockers Alliance (NCA), Ultimate Fighting Cock Champions (UFCC) and Luzon Gamecock Breeders Association (LGBA).

Meanwhile, Dela Rosa announced that PCC’s 12M National “Barkadahan” 9-Stag Derby starts on Sept. 3 at San Juan Coliseum.
