FEU gains share of top spot with win over UST

MANILA, Philippines–Far Eastern University gained a share of first place following a vengeful 66-55 win over University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 77 men’s basketball tournament Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Article continues after this advertisementRoger Pogoy, who was scoreless during FEU’s 67-69 loss to UST in the first round, redeemed himself with 19 points, eight of which came in the first quarter to set the tone for the Tamaraws.
FEU took a commanding 24-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and UST never recovered.
Cameroonian import Karim Abdul and Louie Vigil carried much the offensive load for the struggling Growling Tigers, who dropped to 4-5, with 24 and 17 points, respectively.
Starting forward Kevin Ferrer, who starred for the Tigers during the two-point win over the Tams, missed the game due to an injured left wrist. He sat on the bench in street clothes with a sling over his left shoulder.
