Promo tour of Pacquiao-Algieri up

Thrust into the limelight after forging a fight with Manny Pacquiao, Chris Algieri will turn into a jet-setter starting today.

Algieri and Pacquiao are in Macau to kick off their 27,273-mile, 12-day promotional blitz for their World Boxing Organization welterweight crown showdown at Cotai Arena of The Venetian Macao on Nov. 23.

The American challenger of Italian-Argentine descent arrived with his trainer Tim Lane, at the former Portuguese enclave Saturday from New York. He flew in ahead of Pacquiao, who arrived last night from Beijing.

Pacquiao’s trainer, Hall of Famer Freddie Roach, chief promoter Bob Arum and Ed Tracy, president and CEO of Sands China Ltd., will join the protagonists in the afternoon press conference at The Venetian Macao.

The group will proceed to Shanghai for another press conference tomorrow.

They will fly to the United States, joining the San Francisco Giants on a media day at AT&T Park on Aug. 29, then proceed to The Venetian Las Vegas on Aug. 30.

On Sept. 1, Pacquiao will go to the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, where the eight-division world champion will throw the first pitch in the Dodgers-Washington Nationals game.

There will be another media day on Sept. 3 at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles before the group flies to New York Sept. 4.
