San Beda dominates both swim divisions anew

MANILA, Philippines — San Beda stretched its dominance of the men and women’s division to another year at the close of the 90th NCAA swimming competition at the Rizal Memorial Pool over the weekend.

St. Benilde-La Salle Green Hills also kept the juniors division title for the 11th straight year.

With Wilfred Sunglao Jr., Christian Dimaculangan and Andre Lorenzo Manzo spearheading the charge, the Sea Lions collected 1350.5 points to claim the seniors crown in runaway fashion.

It was the 13th straight title for the Sea Lions who already have 17 league titles overall.

Settling for second was College of St. Benilde with 684.5 points.

Sunglao also broke five NCAA records, while Dimaculangan and Manzo accounted for four and three new meet records, respectively.

The Sea Lionesses won for the fourth straight year as they collected 1161 points, way ahead of St. Benilde’s 816.5.

Frances May Cabrera took the spotlight in the women’s competition with four new meet records.

The Greenies came out strong on the final day of the competition to overcome the Sea Cubs for the juniors title with 1038.5 points.

Showing his immense potential, Rafael Sta. Maria registered six new league marks. Mark Joseph Romiquit also had four meet new records for the Greenies. Cedelf P. Tupas
