Enervon Activ Bohol Triathlon set

Filipino triathletes are bracing for the country’s longest triathlon—the Enervon Activ 226 Bohol Triathlon—slated Dec. 6 on the island of Panglao.

The race will cover the Iron Distance race,  consisting of a 3.8-kilometer swim, 180 km cycling leg and a full marathon of 42 km.

Spots in the race that will start at Bellevue Bohol Resort are limited to just 120 participants, according to organizer Bike King.

“It will be a small kind of race compared to the other triathlon races that we organize like the Tri United series,” said Raul Cuevas of Bike King.

“We are expecting mostly top long-distance elite and age-group triathletes to join.”

The race is set at 7 a.m. with the race kit pickup and briefing as well as bike check-in slated the day before. The cutoff time has been set at 17 hours.

Cuevas said the first Iron Distance race in the Philippines was held in Matabungkay, Batangas, in 2002.

Bohol first hosted an Iron Distance race in December 2011 on Anda Beach, with veterans Arland Macasieb and August Benedicto placing 1-2 in the elite category.

To make sure the participants are 100-percent ready on race day, they will be provided with multivitamins and other food supplements by the sponsor.

“Training makes superb athletes, but proper nutrition plays an equally important role in ensuring the athlete’s best performance,” said Bianca Sison-Cortez, brand manager of Enervon Activ.

Bike King also organized the Tri United Series, the second leg (Tri United 2) of which was held last month and attracted a record 750 triathletes.

Before the Bohol race, Bike King will also spearhead the Active Health Duathlon in Porac, Pampanga-SCTEx.

Enervon Activ is part of Unilab Active Health’s Sports Nutrition System. The nutrition line includes Enervon HP Recovery Drink and Active Health Sports Gel.  Cedelf P. Tupas
