PH gov’t celebrates Gilas Pilipinas win

Manila, Philippines—After four failed attempts, Gilas Pilipinas finally bagged a win on Thursday, prompting no less than Malacañang to erupt in cheers.

“We join our people in proudly celebrating the triumph of Gilas Pilipinas over Senegal in the FIBA World Cup,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a text message to media.

“They played with grit and determination, demonstrating the can-do attitude that has propelled the Philippines to being the fastest growing economy in the region,” he added.
