PLAYING with power and precision, University of San Carlos turned back University of San Jose-Recoletos, 28-26, 25-19, 25-18, to reign supreme in the Shakeys Girls’ Volleyball League’s Central and Eastern Visayas leg at Aznar Coliseum in Cebu City recently.

The USC spikers shook off a first set scare before stamping their class in the next two to clinch the crown and earn a spot in the Shakey’s Volleyball League of Champions (formerly the Tournament of Champions) set at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig early next year.

The victory capped a dominant tournament by USC, which reached the finals by overcoming Pajo National High School, 26-24, 25-22.

USJ-R, on the other hand, came out strong after a poor second set to beat Southwestern U, 25-22, 15-25, 26-24. Southwestern clinched third at the expense of PNHS.

USC joins  Iligan City HS and St. John’s Institute in the League of Champions.  Teams from New Zealand, Australia, US and Bangladesh will also participate.  Cedelf P. Tupas
