STAN “The Man” Martyniouk will be Manny Pacquiao’s main sparring partner for the Filipino icon’s defense of his WBO welterweight crown against unbeaten American Chris Algieri at Venetian Macao on Nov. 23.
Aside from being as tall at 5-foot-10, and as long with a 72-inch reach as Algieri, the Estonia-born Martyniouk was chosen by Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach because of his dazzling hand speed and ring style.
According to a BoxingScene.com report Friday, Martyniouk will be coming to the Philippines with Roach on Oct. 6 for Pacquiao’s training camp in Gen. Santos City.
The 28-year-old Martyniouk, a lightweight, holds a record of 13 wins and 2 losses, with 2 knockouts.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao confirmed in a television interview with ABS-CBN New York Thursday that negotiations are going on for a possible 2015 fight with American Floyd Mayweather Jr.
