Defending champion Dashi Watanabe of Aprilia bounced back with another victory that sealed his back-to-back overall plum in the 2014 Pirelli Superbikes Championship Series recently at Batangas Racing Circuit.
Watanabe’s fourth win this season saved him from complications which may arise from the possibility of ending in a tie with Aprilia teammate Marvin Mangulabnan in the event which is part of the 2014 Motorsports Championship Season, presented by Petronas, sanctioned by the Superbikes Racing Association (SBRA) and sponsored by Petronas.
Mangulabnan, following his triumph in the last race at Clark International Speedway, needed to sweep the last two races to stay in the title hunt.
Watanabe wrapped up the nine-lap race almost five seconds ahead of title rival Raniel Resuello of Team Ducati Philippines as Anthony Roman took third place in the premiere Superbikes Open class. Rizaldy Canare and Toti Alberto of Team Ducati Philippines ended fourth and fifth, respectively.
