Ateneo widens interschool lead
ATENEO, behind cousins Carl Corpus and Aidric Chan, held off De La Salle Zobel to stay on top of the Midgets 1 division of the ICTSI-JGFP Interschool golf championships at Valley Golf Club in Antipolo City.
Playing at their home course, Corpus made 62 while Chan had 60 as they joined hands with Marc Corrales (52) to pool 174 for a 320 total that jacked up their lead to 18 points from just eight in the opening round.
Ira Alido, Jolo Magcalayo and Philippe Palanca turned in a respectable 164 to stay in second spot.

Ateneo 2 and La Salle Green Hills are tied for third at 237 while Xavier 1 occupies fourth at 184.
De La Salle Zobel, meanwhile, zoomed ahead in Midgets 1 at the resumption of the multilevel competition backed by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. Foundation and conducted by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines. The other sponsors are Philippine Golf Foundation, Martin Lorenzo, Golf Depot and Inquirer Golf.
Article continues after this advertisementDavid Guangko carded 36 and Garri Nolasco collected 35 for a 71 that gave De La Salle Zobel a 152 total for two rounds.
Miguel Baquiran and Miguel Roque both shot 29 for 58 and 127. LSGH was running third at 125, Ateneo 2 at 95, Xavier 90 and Ateneo 3 sixth at 55.
Play resumes today with the Girls 1, 2 and 3 fields seeing action at Eastridge and the Juniors at South Links.
In the individual race, Chan has a five-point lead over Corpus with a 112 total while Alido was at 106 in the Midgets 1.
Sean Jean Ramos of LSGH was on top of Midgets 2 with his 82, five ahead of Guangko and six up on Zachary Castro.
