Sea Lions turn back Stallions, keep UCAA lead

Marvie Bustos scored the winning basket in the last 2.2 seconds, lifting Olivarez College to a 54-53 win over Trinity University of Asia yesterday in the 13th Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) men’s basketball tournament at Trinity University of Asia gymnasium in Quezon City.

Their sixth win in seven matches allowed the Sea Lions to firm up their hold on the solo lead.

The Trinity Stallions bungled two opportunities to reverse the outcome, first with Mark Doligon’s basket getting a no-count from the referee following a shot clock violation.

Doligon then fired a triple at the buzzer,  his attempt rolling off the rim as the Stallions absorbed their third setback in seven games.

Earlier, Kerr Bangeles had 19 points as Rizal Technological University ripped Philippine Nautical and Technical College, 93-58.
