NCAA, NAASCU cancel games due to heavy rains
MANILA, Philippines—With Malacañang ordering the suspension of all classes in Metro Manila, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities followed suit and cancelled its events for Friday.
In its official Facebook page, the NCAA said that its basketball and table tennis events were cancelled in accordance with the order of Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa to cancel classes in all levels in Metro Manila.
Also, the first game in the title series between the Centro Escolar University Scorpions and St. Clare College of Caloocan Saints have been cancelled.
Perenial rivals San Beda College Red Lions and Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights were scheduled for the first game in the NCAA.
San Beda, the top seed, looks to add one more victory to its 13-2 record while Letran attempts to give some relevance to its season as it sits as the sixth seed with a 6-8 record.
Third seed Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers looks to improve its 9-5 record against 10th seed San Sebastian College Recoletos Golden Stags which has a dismal 3-11 slate in the second match.
No dates were set on the resumption of these games.
