Nat’l five, Lee off to Korea today

GILAS Pilipinas leaves for Incheon, South Korea, today for the 17th Asian Games, with crack point guard Paul Lee taking some sense of financial security with him.

The 6-foot guard signed a contract extension with Rain or Shine yesterday to end a long, rocky negotiation that almost got out of hand.

The 40th PBA Season opens Oct. 19 at Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

Lee, who won the Rookie of the Year award in 2011 as the No. 2 pick, signed a two-year pact worth the maximum P420,000 a month, a year shorter than what was originally reported.

Lee averaged 10.3 points, 4.7 assists and a steal last season. Musong R. Castillo
