Lascuña now 6 shots behind

PETALING JAYA, Selangor—Antonio Lascuña matched par 71 and emerged as the top Filipino contender, six strokes off  new  leader Cameron Smith of Australia, after three rounds of the $412,000 Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters here Saturday.

Lascuña, now No. 6 in the Asian Tour Order of Merit, had a 54-hole total of 211 with compatriot Angelo Que two strokes behind at 213 after a 69. Jay Bayron fell apart with a 77 for a 214 total after earlier rounds of 69-68 and Mars Pucay stood at 217 after a 72.

Missing the halfway cut Friday were Miguel Tabuena (73-73-146), Carlos Santos-Ocampo (79-71-150) and Elmer Salvador (76-75-151). Cassius Casas retired in the second round after an opening 73.  Smith grabbed the lead at 205 with a 71 that came after earlier rounds of 68-66. Asian Tour News
