MANILA, Philippines – Preserving a well-deserved win, the NCAA Management Committee on Friday denied San Beda College Red Lions’ protest against the 76-75 victory of the University Perpetual Help Altas.
In a statement, NCAA Commissioner Arturo Cristobal and Technical Supervisor Romy Guevarra gave an explanation and clarification to the NCAA Mancom including San Beda representative Edmundo Badolato.
San Beda lodged a protest against Perpetual when Alta Joel Jolangcob notched in a three-pointer in the third quarter which the Lions said should be nullified as Perpetual used up all 24 seconds in their shot clock.
“After deliberating the protest on the protest of SBC and hearing the explanation made by all parties, Mancom decided to deny the protest and affirm the result of the game,” the Mancom statement said.
With the denial of the protest, Perpetual preserves their 9-6 record and remains in contention for a Final Four slot.
San Beda, meanwhile, has to look for another game to win to clinch a twice-to-beat advantage and improve their 13-3 slate.
