SANS reigning pro titlists Mitch Robbins and Esther Dudaz, the fight for today’s 2014 Safeguard Active 5i50 Triathlon titles is expected to be fierce in Bohol.

A total of 650 triathletes from 28 countries are entered in the swim-bike-run event, led by  veteran campaigners and a slew of rising stars.

Robbins topped the male side while Dudaz won the ladies’ section in Subic last year. Despite their absence, the field remains talent-laden with Aussies Eric Watson, Josh Amberger, Justin Granger and Michael Murphy tipped to lead the chase in their side.  French Carole Fuchs and Aussies Ashleigh Gentle and Belinda Granger are expected to slug it out for the ladies’ title.

Up for grabs is the $10,000 total purse in the pro division and P120,000 in the elite category of the event sponsored by Safeguard Active, The Bellevue Resort and 2Go.  Organizer is Sunrise Events, Inc. led by Wilfred Uytengsu.

Focus will also be on local bet Monica Torres, the elite champion of the last two editions of the Century Tuna 5i50 who will be vying in the pro class. She also dominated the Asian elite division of the 2014 Challenge Philippines.
