MANILA, Philippines — The University of Santo Tomas completed a sweep of seniors judo in the 77th Season of the UAAP at the Blue Eagle Gym.

The Growling Tigers, behind MVP Al Rolan Llamas, edged Ateneo with 45 points in the men’s division, while the Tigresses, also bannered by an MVP in Annie Ramirez, garnered 42 points to win the women’s division on Sunday.

The Tigers captured their 11th championship while the Tigresses won their seventh overall. It was UST’s third double championship in the last four seasons.

Llamas bested Adrian Mercado in an all-UST finale in the men’s under-66 kg category, while Ramirez and Princess Lucman won golds in the -63 and -78 kg categories to boost the women’s team.

Ateneo finished second in both divisions with its men’s squad collecting 43 points and its women’s team getting 32 points.

Meanwhile, the Blue Eaglets did what their seniors couldn’t as they topped the Tiger Cubs to rule the juniors division with 73 points behind the efforts of MVP Christian Clemente and Rookie of the Year Jose Ariel Querubin.

UST was a distant second with 34 points while De La Salle-Zobel came in third with measly 13 points.

University of the Philippines’ Von Kieffer Yu and Beatriz Que won Rookie of the Year honors in the men’s and women’s divisions, respectively. Mark Giongco
